Known for his existential films, Carlos Reygadas’s last film Our Time shows his loyalty towards his path while examining the inner worlds of his main characters. Reygadas plays Juan, a man who runs a bull farm with his wife Esther and starts questioning love, loyalty and marriage with the arrival of Phil, a horse breeder. Although they have an open marriage, Esther’s relationship wıth Phil makes Juan feel jealous and this leads to a lack of communication among the three of them followed by severe problems. The tension of a woman’s story of self-discovery and satisfaction in a patriarchal society, shows the transformation of the masculine expectations of modern times, which is the main point in the film.
