SUMMARY

The Last Tree is the semi-autobiographical story of Femi, a British boy of Nigerian heritage who, after being fostered in rural Lincolnshire, moves to inner-city London to live with his birth mother. In his teens, Femi struggles with the culture and values of his new environment.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Shola graduated from The National Film and Television School. His debut film, Moving Image had its World Premiere at The Los Angeles Film Festival 2016. With this film he received The Special Recognition Award at The Blackstar Film Festival. Shola was tasked by The British Council to direct a reinterpretation of Othello, called Dear Mr. Shakespeare, which was selected for competition at The Sundance Film Festival 2017 and featured on BBC iPlayer. The Last Tree is Shola's second feature film.
