Marie-Therese, the daughter of 90 year old Antoine who lives with 25% of his heart functioning and Viviane with dementia illness, passes away unexpectedly. Due to Antoine’s health problems, no one in the family has the courage to tell him the truth and in order not to face two deaths, they lie to him about Marie-Therese being abroad. Nevertheless the tight bond he has with his daughter leads him to constantly question why she never gets in contact. Although the creator of the documentary Cyril Aris opens up a very private space to the audience, because of universal concepts such as “the unbearable pain over a loss”, “longing”, “affection” and “hoping for expectations” The Swing is an unforgettable film that appeals straight to the heart of people.
