"This nation's women don't master their hearts. Or master their flesh. Men control them, and male society overwhelms them." (From the film)

Anti-Porno

SUMMARY

The latest absurdity from Sion Sono, satirizing the Japanese pinku films of the 60s and 70s.

Sion Sono is one of the most unique voices in modern experimental cinema, and this is the sixth time he has been featured in the !f Istanbul programme. Anti-Porno is a satire of the Japanese pinku industry of the late 60s, commissioned by Nikkatsu, the production giant celebrating its 100th anniversary and the 45th anniversary of its pinku era. At the film's centre is the character of Kyoko, an artist, novelist and filmmaker. It critiques the way pinku diminishes not only female sexuality but all female individuality. Sono once again takes us on a journey into his magnetic imagination, enhanced with social commentary in a colorful film you're guaranteed to watch without blinking once.
