SUMMARY

"Lions and Gazelles" is a thematic compilation inspired by a piece titled In the Arms of Lions and Gazelles, from Yasemin Özcan's solo exhibition Dead-End of Bliss. Unwitting prey, prey that turn into hunters, and hunters who refuse to lose their hunting spirit ** they all gather here, in each others' arms.

Hasan Can Dağlı (İstanbul, 1987) lives in Istanbul. He studied film at the School of Visual Arts in New York and completed his graduate studies on the same subject at Marmara University. ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Azra Deniz Okyay (İstanbul, 1983) lives in Istanbul. She completed her graduate and master’s degrees at Sorbonne-Nouvelle and worked at Michel Gondry’s film studio, Partizan, in Paris. She established a video workshop in Sulukule and at a school in Zeytinburnu, where she taught children. Her key films include Little Black Fishes (2013), La Sépa-Ration (2004) and Cengiz (2002).

Rûken Tekeş (Diyarbakır, 1976) lives in Istanbul. She worked abroad as a human rights specialist for the United Nations for several years. ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
After majoring in animation at Anadolu University, she worked in the advertising industry and offered yoga sessions in the meantime. She provided news about local and international movements such as Gezi and the Cairo trials for the independent newspaper T24 between 2013 and 2016. She has since focused on writing and producing her own projects, which center on humanity and how it’s nourished by mythology, language and symbols. Her key films include O (2006).
