A haunting film from outside of time.
Bill Morrison has always been considered one of the most original filmmakers of our time. His use of archival footage, and collaborations with artists from Phillip Glass to Jóhann Jóhannsson, have yielded a body of work that is singular and essential. Decasia (2002) has been heralded as one of the best films of the decade, with Errol Morris naming it as "the best film ever made". Dawson City: Frozen Time pieces together the bizarre true history of a collection of 533 films dating from the 1910s to 1920s, which were lost for over 50 years before being discovered buried under a swimming pool deep in the sub-ArcticYukon Territory. Incorporating rare silent films, newsreels, archival footage, still photographs and interviews to tell the story, and accompanied by an original score by American composer, multi-instrumentalist and frequent Sigur Rós collaborator Alex Somers (Captain Fantastic), the film offers a unique and haunting history of the gold rush.

New York-based filmmaker and artist Bill Morrison was born in 1965, in Chicago. His work was recently honored with a mid-career retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art. He has made many shorts and documentaries, including the award winning The Film of Her (1997), Light Is Calling (2004), Who by Water (2007).
