September 55 is a 8-minute virtual-reality documentary of the Istanbul Pogrom, an attack on the minorities of Istanbul on September 6-7, 1955. This interactive installation places the viewer inside a reconstructed photographic studio in the midst of the pogrom, allowing her to witness the events from the perspective of a local shop-owner.

Çağrı Hakan Zaman is a doctoral candidate in Computational Architecture, and a researcher at MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. He specializes in spatial computing. Nil Tuzcu is a technologist, designer and researcher working on data-driven urban representations, digital humanities and urban history. She currently works as a digital humanities researcher at Harvard University, and as a Research Fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Deniz Tortum is a filmmaker, researcher and designer. He has been a research assistant and graduate student at the MIT Open Documentary Lab, where he studied interactive and immersive media. His recent work focuses on virtual reality and documentary film.
