"Sequels don't often work if they're brought out straight away, [but] we've smartened up and we won't accept it. This is different because it's 20 years on – it's really different because we didn't try to remake the film." Ewan McGregor ( Actor)
20 years later, a sequel like no other sequel.
Trainspotting, Danny Boyle's classic 1996 film about the exploits of heroin addicts in Edinburgh, based on the novel by the provocative writer Irvine Welsh, is getting the sequel treatment in the form of T2 Trainspotting. First there was an opportunity. Then there was a betrayal. Twenty years have gone by. Much has changed, but just as much remained the same. Mark Renton returns to the only place he could ever call home. They are waiting for him: Spud, Sick Boy, and Begbie. Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.
