"Doing this work is about changing solitude into a site of sharing, it is to allow oneself to be crossed by the other." Thierry Thieû Niang

SUMMARY

A love story.

Blanche Moreau, 92, lives in the geriatric care section of a hospital with other Alzheimer patients. She seems to have drawn a curtain between herself and the world. She hardly eats, and is delicately helped to her bedroom. Then, enter Thierry Thieû Niang, famous choreographer and a magical dancer, who runs a dance workshop for Alzheimer's patients at the hospital. Thierry tenderly moves with the patients, it's almost as if he listens to their heartbeats and small gestures, and draws them into moving with him. Their bodies and their souls are animated, it's as if their momories become alive. And Blanche falls in love. A Young Girl In Her Nineties is a documentray about love, jealousy, bitterness and moments of joy and solitude. It is also about movement and healing, the spell of the sensuous, and the rawest states of the senses and sensibilities that make us human.
