"If you're really paying attention, there's a lot going on, because really it's a portrait of Yoshiki, and it's a story of the band kind of refracted through his prism." Stephen Kijak ( Director)

SUMMARY

An unforgattable, visceral rock'n'roll journey from the producers of Searching for Sugarman!

X Japan was formed by childhood friends Yoshiki and Toshi, who ignited a musical revolution in Japan during the late 80's with their melodic metal and flamboyant fashion. In the fall of '97, at the height of their success, X broke up – devastating millions of fans. Twenty years after the tragedyfueled split, director Stephen Kijak traces the arc of X – from the band's origins through tumultuous super-stardom and premature dissolution up to the present day, as the band prepares to reunite for a show at the legendary Madison Square Garden while struggling to reconcile a past still haunted by suicide, injury and cultish extremism, with their insatiable thirst for perfection. An unforgettable, visceral rock'n'roll journey from the producers of Searching for Sugarman!
