An unexpected journey taken by the candid young Canadian poet Rosie Ming through Iran, land of poetry – with the accompaniment of some exquisite drawings.
Rosie Ming, a young Canadian poet, is invited to perform at a Poetry Festival in Shiraz, Iran, but she'd rather be in Paris as she's fascinated by French culture. She lives with her over-protective Chinese grandparents, and has never travelled on her own. Once in Iran, however, she finds herself in the company of poets, who teach her the love of poetry and language. They also tell her stories of her Iranian father, who she'd assumed had abandoned her. Rosie finds herself on a journey of forgiveness, reconciliation and understanding, through learning about her father's past and her own cultural identity. What makes Window Horses unique is its original, charming and poetic style of animation. More than a dozen artists worked on it. But it's not just a visual treat, this is a rich and captivating piece of women-focused storytelling.
