Second Film Syndrome

19 September 2019 (20:00 - 22:00), TAK

Speaker: Johnny Ma (CA)

Winner of “Best Canadian First Film Award” with his debut “Old Stone”, we seek answers from Johnny Ma on how a successful first film affects the directors future productions through his second feature film “To Live To Sing”.

What differences between their debut await directors who want to shoot their second film? Does the success of the first feature film put pressure on the second one? After Old Stone, he postponed his second feature project “Ten Thousand Happiness” and he shoot “To Live To Sing” instead of it. What does production continuity mean for the career of the director? What connections are there between the short films and feature films of Johnny Ma in his career?

Workshops will differ as English and Turkish. There will not be a simultaneous translation.
