Mobile Filmmaking for Documentary Makers: A Workshop

23 February 2017 - 26 February 2017 (13:00 - 17:00) ATÖLYE

As the world changes, so do the conditions for making films. On the one hand, making independent films and securing funding is getting harder. On the other hand, distribution channels are changing and presenting new ways to reach more viewers.

How can we continue to tell our stories? Almost all of us have a smartphone. Making films with a mobile phone is a great way to explore new possibilities. How can we create a narrative language with our phones? What kind of stories can we tell? Can we make powerful films? What kind of possibilities do these phones present us for making the films we want to make, about the issues that concern us, without making any concessions? The aim of this workshop is to create a starting point, a meeting place.

If you have made at least one short or feature-length documentary, are currently working on a documentary film project, actively use a smartphone and have basic camera skills, let’s meet.

To apply: Please send in your bio, filmography, a one-page project proposal and a viewing link for your most recent

documentary by February 12, 2017 to atolye@ifistanbul.com. The workshop leaders will review all applications and get

back to you.

Places in this !f 2017 Doc Lab workshop are limited to 10 people. Filmmakers are asked to attend all 4 days.
